To play, you have to drop a tiny marble into a blue crate by assembling several pieces and connecting them together in the correct order. Not every piece on the screen will be able to move, though, so you'll have to use your imagination to make the machine work.

Apparatus has a bunch of different tools that you can use, such as angled boards, chutes, see-saw-like planks and even motors that can make the marble travel across the screen.
